Bird Proofing Birds are a unique part of the wildlife of our towns and countryside and as such should be protected. However many species of birds can become pests causing severe damage to buildings as well as jeopardising standards of hygiene. Our approach in limiting the damage caused by pest birds is to reduce the potential for damage whilst ensuring that the birds themselves come to no harm. There are a total of thirteen birds which have been identified as pests under the Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981. All of these birds may be controlled under the act but the methods of control are strictly governed under the law. For example poisoning of any bird, pest or not, is forbidden. Our methods of control ensure that bird damage is effectively prevented while the birds themselves are dealt with both legally and humanely.
